Reading: We'll continue to read and discuss The Giver in class this week. Students will analyze the text through annotating/close reading, scholarly discussions, and enrichment activities.
Writing: We'll continue writing prompts this week. Next week, we'll continue to talk about essay writing. Students will learn how to write persuasive essays. After reading The Giver, students will be required to write a persuasive essay. Vocabulary:
Grammar: We are continuing our unit on capitalization this week. Students should review their notes from previous lessons. A unit test is coming up in the next two weeks. Homework:
Additionally, please help out your peers by completing this survey. Please read and annotate chapter six of The Giver. Don't forget to refer to the guidelines for annotating a text.
On Monday, we will read chapters 7-9 together. You may bring snacks to share or a snack of your own. Please don't bring snacks with nuts due to allergies.
